What are the benefits of getting into the data science, software or cyber industry?

The data science, software, and cyber industries are part of the growing big data, artificial intelligence, and automation movement that is sweeping through all verticals of business. You can see on job boards the number of recruiters operating in the industry and the high remuneration offered by employers.

Do I learn business skills too?

Yes. Interpersonal skills and defining business objectives are an essential part of every Institute of Data certified programme. The Institute of Data trains professionals not only based on their competency with technical skills but also their business consulting, communication to clients, managers, directors, and stakeholders.

I have no background in IT or statistics. Can I get into data science, software or cyber security?

Yes. If you are motivated to learn and have attended formal education in the past you can up-skill into a data science, software, or cyber security role. But speak to a career consultant first to make sure these programmes are right for you.

Why the focus on interpersonal skills?

Because even with all the technical skills in the world, if you can't ask questions, think critically, tell stories, and deliver presentations, you won't be able to achieve your objectives in a corporate or organisational context.
